Collection of Spanish Language Manuscripts

The Collection of Spanish Language Manuscripts date from 1551-1870s and include items from Spain, Cuba, Puerto Rico, Peru, and Mexico. Of note are the documents relating to land and property agreements and church affairs, as well as slavery in Cuba, a mathematical dissertation regarding the transport of water from the Jamapa River to Veracruz (Mexico), an account for the building of fortifications in San Juan (Puerto Rico), an 1853 census table for Huaquechula in Puebla (Mexico).
