Cassimere Churchill, Washington, to "Dear Brother", 1862 January 4-5
Cassimere gives a detailed description of area and fortifications: camps of the Fourth Pennsylvania regiment, an artillery camp, a Rhode Island camp and a California camp where a shell thrown in the fire explodes near him and injures others. "I visited the soldiers home and talked with the old broken down soldiers." He also visits the Floyds Plantation, the president's residence (The White House) and the soldiers' burying ground.
