Had word that Harry wouldn't be back

until tomorrow night. We are all

torn up. Mother has had  beaver board

ceilings put in the dining room &

two parlors. This a. m. I cleaned

upstairs & did the mending. Mary

& I went to the Alpha Club at Mrs.

W. Strasburgeres. We met to knit as

we will once a month. I've knitted

all evening too. Mrs. S[?] & Christine

were here until after ten.

More word that Harry would be back

tomorrow eve. This has been a busy

day. Decided to have a little bridge

party for Grace Berry. Baked a cake

& date pudding. Spent quite a little

time [planning?]  Had just two tables of

bridge. They all seemed to have a

good time. Tonight our bridge club

met with the Harris' Several of the

crowd came for me. I went. We

had a hilarious time. Mrs. H. had

a hard time finding enough to

fill the tables. Didn't get home

until 12:30. There were 8 women &

six men. Several of us without our

husbands or wives.
