111° at the ice plant today.
I spent a good part of the day
trying to keep Mary cool. She
eats cracked ice by the cup full.
She gets sweeter every day. She
says, "Come 'ere, Pearl." We do
enjoy each other so much. Katie
took Mary & Mother riding this eve.
John stook Harry & I. We went to
the country. The wheat fields
are a beatiful as anything
I ever saw. We stopped at the
Canteen.

Cleaned the downstairs. Shortened
three of Mary's dresses. This eve
Mother, Mary & I went to the
Best. She skipped along the
street -- swinging her arms, happy
as a lark. It is a pleasure
to watch her.
