A regular Colorado day and
everyone appreciates it after such
blistering weather. Mother, Mary
& I ate dinner down town. Read
all afternoon. Katie was over
awhile. Mary & I opened the
Canteen a little after six
and stayed until 9. Had really
now sailors than regular soldiers
tonight.

Knitted every minute I had to
spare today. Went down to the
Canteen this eve to take $5 worth
of tobascco I had donated. There
was such a rush of soldiers
to be fed & looked after that I
stayed and helped until 9 o'clock.
The boys were amazed that
we could do so much for them.
One of them said, "The Red
Cross is a big part of the
army now.
