Sunday, June 30, 1918

A regular Colorado day and

everyone appreciates it after such

blistering weather. Mother, Mary

& I ate dinner down town. Read

all afternoon. Katie was over

awhile. Mary & I opened the 

Canteen a little after six 

and stayed until 9. Had really

now sailors than regular soldiers

tonight. 

Monday, July 1, 1918

Knitted every minute I had to

spare today. Went down to the

Canteen this eve to take $5 worth

of tobascco I had donated. There

was such a rush of soldiers

to be fed & looked after that I

stayed and helped until 9 o'clock.

The boys were amazed that

we could do so much for them. 

One of them said, "The Red

Cross is a big part of the

army now.
