Another hot day. Have read
a great deal -- papers & magazines.
We all had a nice day together
at home. Played out in th e
yard this eve. Tossed the
ball with Mary. She plays
she is a bird. She gets more
lovable each day.

This was Lewis' 4th birthday.
Katie had all of us, John,
Marnie, the Humphreys, Bessie
& her mother & the Macleans
to a picnic supper in the
yard. Mary took Lewis a
jar of [Bunate?]
Marnie & I went to the
Canteen this morning about
7 and served breakfast to 20
soldiers.
