The temperature ran to 110° today.
The air was hot enough to cook
anything set in the yard. Mary
and I were out awhile in the
morning and afternoon. Katie
had a party this afternoon for
Grance Blackman. If it had
been anywhere else I never
would have made the effort to
go. Things have been so rushing
for a week.

Just as hot today as yesterday.
Mary has been sick all day--
from it. She sat on my lap
most of the day. Didn't go to
sleep until about 10:30 P. M. John
was here for dinner. Mary & I
were down in the basement all
afternoon. It was the coolest
place to be found.
