        Camp near Harpers

Ferry Md Oct 28th. 1862

      Dear E. your last came to

       hand in due time viz

       four days from date, altho

       sometimes we get them in

       three. I wrote to Fan last

evening; and shall write to some of the

others, probaly Nell during the week.

The weather is getting quite cool. and

I begin to feel the want of those under

shirts. I should have sent for them before

but it costs something to get a box out here

and I thought Id wait and have them

all sent together, when we got paid off.

but another month has pased and there

is no more prospect of our seeing the

paymaster, then there was three weeks ago.

But the longer we wate the more will be

coming. If you send them ask Mose to get

my boots and send all together. Direct the
