       Camp of 2d Mass Regt

         near Stafford Court House Va

               March 24th [?] 1863

Dear E,

I finished a letter to Tave this

     morning thinking I would wate

for the evening mail and see

if I was luckey enough to get word

from you. but as I have a few moments

leasure before drill I thought I would

     make a commencement and finish

up after I come back or tomorow morning.

We are having brigade drills, now, that is

all the regts, drill together in line and

our parade ground being small, we are

oblidged to go over a mile from camp.

The drill lastes about three hours, and

undress parade after wards takes up the

time 'till supper. We have tatto now

at eight oclock, instede of nine so

you see our evenings are rather short

giving us but little time for writing after
