My own darling,
I received your
letter No 2 yesterday, And how can I
thank you for Willie's picture. no one
but those who are away from home can
have the least idea of my feelings, not
only from the realization of our loss, but
on your account deerest. I know how you
must and do feel, But thank God that
there is a prospect of my soon seeing
you and, never if I can make a living
at home will I leave you. I never was
so home sick iin my life, as I have been
in this place, And it apeared when
ever I opened a letter that, something
was about to happen; but I canot write
in fact I dont want to think about it.
I arived from Bridgeport yesterday
morning and found your letter. Col [Carsmen]
