am so nervous now that I can

scarcely steady my pen:  I fear, dear

friend, that you will think your

little Carolina friend to be a very

strange, impulsive creature, & will

wonder at my letter, but if you

could only know the frame of

mind in which it is written, you

would peruse it with a lenient

eye: Ma joins me in much love

to your dear Mother & self, & says

she intends writing to you before
