To day is the sabbath I hear bad
news this pleasant morning one
of our comrads has passed over
the river of death during the night
he was at the citty hospital and
was discharged from there to go
to his camp he came in last night
on foot and went to our hospital and died
during the night I have jus been
to see the corpse I was the [relax?] of
the measles that ailed him Brother
Sleaver preached to us t day his
text was the first verse of the
lords prays Our Father. His sermon
affected the worst of the soldiers
very much last night after reading
a chapter or two in my bible we had a
sort of bible class in our tent. after
that was over I took a stroll around
camp the moon and stars seemed
just as they used to at home but
