bayonet which hung by my side was

Struck and mashed up So as to be

useless; about the middle of the afternoon

I began to have visions of Bull run

for our cartriges [cartridges] being all gone the

revels begun to drive, us, for the ground

being covered with fallen trees we could

not charge with our bayonets, the rebels

preceiving that our fire began to Slack

began to cheer and Shout "Bull run

Bull run" but just then in the very nick

of time reinforcements came up at double

quick, and soon changed the order of

things, at their head was General Kearney

flourishing a Sword in his only arm,

never was our eyes more gladdened than

at this sight, the revels fought nobly

and ralleid [rallied] four times but our fresh

men were to much for them, they fought

till dark, and then rapidly retreated leaving

their dead and wounded, the next morning

the battle field presented a horrible sight,

                     Love to all        Edwin.
