              Camp Douglass

              Apothecary Store

                       Aug 29 - 1862

My sweet darling, and loving pet Celia

                            Dearest

                                 Out of five letters

I wrote to Morris yours was the first answer and

if all were answered is the most welcome, not-

withstanding two that are written are for money

the "one thing needful" in "camp life" at least -

Darling you give a graphic account

in to-days letter of your perils by land to Kan-

kakee and it seems that you and I have

strange proclivities for getting into the mud

regular old "stick in the muds" aint we? -

But if we have such a faculty before mar-

-riage of getting so be-mired I hope by all thats

beautiful, after the "gordian knot" is tied such

will not be the case - for muddy conjugality

is a thunderation sight worse than muddy

coffee, the latter I can go - provided it is well

sweetened with milk and - Love.

Your ink is of a wretched description - if you

want me to remit 5 cents for you to purchase a

bottle with I will do so but dont write any

more letters with that ink chose rather to

Die First and then dont - You are apparently

anxious to know the particulars of my situation
