3.  VENDREDI. Ste  Geneviève.

Arose at 7:00 o'clock. Washed

and dressed by 7:20.  Bade family

goodbye.  Had bkfst, at N.C.O. mess.

Started for Meuse in Inspector's car

at 8:15.  Arrived at 8:40.  Train due

at 9:01 but did not arrive until 10:25.

Arrived in Langres about 11:00.  Went

up to city by cog-railway.  Walked around

city.  Visited church.  Wonderful sight

from outer walls.  Walked down hill at

2:30 P.M.  Took train for Dijon at 4:16

(Had lunch first in Red Cross Canteen).

Arr. at 9 o'clock. Went to enormous French

Canteen. Had lunch in station. Met two

4.  SAMEDI.  S. Rigobert

English girls.  Had to wait till 3:45

A.M. for train to Lyon.  Arrived in Lyon

at 7:35.  No sleep.  Kid directed us to

Café. Dirty place.  Had bkfst. there.  Went

to Hotel Bristol.  Swain & I hired room for

30 fcs. Mc Grath & Crowley for 20 fcs. Our

room had bath. Splendid rooms. Slept

until 3:00 o'clock P.M. Took a walk

around city. Went to see Restaurant Garcin.

Then went to Café Louis XV on Rue Gas-

parin. Rich place, all girls were pretty.

Had our drinks there. Had supper at 13 fcs.

each. Went to Casino at 9 o'clock P.M.

show. Retired at 12:45.
