Arrived at Commonwealth Pier
at about 1 p.m. Whistles
were blowing. Had to meet
reporters from the different
newspapers and give them a
summary of the happenings on the
way over, who the commanding officers
on board were, facts and figures
about 26th Division. Col Runnell
of Engineers was allowed to land.
In evening the Com. Pier was lined
with friends & relatives. We had to
stay on board over night.
