Dearest Mother and Daddy,

            At last! I’ve been trying to

write this since yesterday

morning, and actually got so

far as dating it and starting

the salutation, but something

always has come up and so

this is the first opportunity I’ve

really had.  Here’s hoping I

finish it this time?

            Do you realize that it

is actually only a week ago

today that I left home?  It

seems years!  Friday night I

had quite a spell of homesick-

ness (the first since September)

but I’ve gotten well over it now

and am pretty much settled.

I can’t seem to study though,

and the thought of exams

completely floors me.  It’s

just a stage which all freshman
