March 22

     An interlude!  This afternoon

Care, Jan, Shorty and I went

to the Red Cross room and

packed kits to be given soldiers

at the embarkation points.  They’re

grand things – wrapped in a

khaki shaving apron are pad,

pencil, envelopes, sewing kit, soap

and soap dish, cigarettes, razor

blades, deck of cards, shoe strings,

books, shoe cloth, lifesavers.

We packed a hundred in a

little over an hour.

We went to chapel at which

Marion Ross spoke and

then to a meeting of those who

plan to work at the U. S. O.

     I studied for tomorrow’s

Government and Business test.

    Paul Jones called.
